Leke Leke Waterfall is one of those Bali places that still feels genuinely off the tourist trail — a 30-metre single drop into a clear plunge pool, reached through active rice terraces and a dense bamboo forest in Tabanan Regency, 18 kilometres northwest of Ubud. It does not appear on most "top waterfalls in Bali" lists, which is precisely why the pool is quiet even in high season. The walk in is as rewarding as the destination: the rice terrace section offers open valley views before the path plunges into bamboo shade.

About Leke Leke Waterfall

The waterfall sits within the Yeh Ho river catchment in Baturiti subdistrict, Tabanan Regency. This puts it just west of the Bedugul highlands — cooler air, more consistent rainfall, and lush year-round greenery. The Yeh Ho feeds some of Bali's most fertile rice terraces, and the walk to Leke Leke passes working paddy fields before entering the bamboo forest.

Region: Tabanan Regency, Baturiti subdistrict, 18 km northwest of Ubud
Height: Approximately 30 m single drop
River: Yeh Ho River

The bamboo section is the most photogenic part of the approach — dense stands of giant bamboo create a natural tunnel effect that filters light into soft green diffusion. The final descent on wooden steps is steep and requires care when wet. The pool at the base is wide and clear, bordered by smooth boulders and overhanging ferns. No commercial infrastructure exists at the pool. A small ticket booth at the road entrance is the only built structure.

Vibe: Wild and genuinely remote. No warung strip, no tour buses. The path passes through active rice fields and then a bamboo forest. The pool is clean and usually quiet even in high season.

Photography Tips

01

The bamboo forest section of the walk offers beautiful abstract shots — tall straight stems creating natural parallels.

02

The fall is framed by overhanging fern and jungle from the pool edge — wide angle captures the height and the green walls together.

03

Morning light through the tree canopy creates dappled beams in the bamboo section — arrive early for this.

04

Long-exposure pool shot with a travel tripod for silk-water effect.

Scams & Guide Pressure

Leke Leke is one of the less visited waterfalls near Ubud, which keeps tourist pressure low. The entrance fee includes the full walk — no additional payments should be requested inside. The route passes through private farmland and rice fields; stay on the designated path and do not damage crops.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Leke Leke Waterfall easy to find?
The waterfall is signed from the Jatiluwih road. Google Maps navigation to "Leke Leke Waterfall" is generally accurate. The entrance is a small ticket booth with a few parking spaces. Not all navigation apps show it clearly — searching for the village Baturiti + waterfall helps.
How does Leke Leke compare to Tibumana?
Both are single-drop pool waterfalls near Ubud. Tibumana is slightly closer, has better-maintained steps, and is more popular. Leke Leke is more wild and isolated — the rice terrace and bamboo walk makes it a richer overall experience but with more challenging terrain.
Can you do Leke Leke and Jatiluwih in the same day?
Yes — they are 30 minutes apart and make a natural northwest Ubud day trip. Visit Leke Leke early morning, then Jatiluwih rice terraces late morning to afternoon.
Is there any food near Leke Leke?
No warung directly at the waterfall. Basic food and cold drinks are available in Baturiti village 10 minutes by scooter. Plan meals in Ubud before or after.
Is the walk to Leke Leke safe in rainy season?
The wooden steps near the base become very slippery in rain. The path through the rice terraces can be muddy. Grip sandals or trail shoes are important in wet season. The waterfall itself is beautiful in rainy season but the footing requires more care.
How crowded is Leke Leke?
Significantly less crowded than the south Ubud waterfalls. On most weekday mornings you will have the pool to yourself or share with 2–4 other visitors. Even weekends are calmer than Tegenungan or Tukad Cepung.
